Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo

South Dakota State University is proud host the 53rd annual Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo in Brookings South Dakota, in April of 2007. The Jackrabbit Stampede will feature over 250 college contestants from colleges across the Great Plains Region. The Great Plains Region is comprised of 6 different states including: North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and part of Nebraska.

Now in its 53rd year of staging college rodeo, SDSU is pleased to be not only the host of by far the largest rodeo in the Great Plains Region but also one of the largest college rodeos in the nation. Along with having one of the premier college rodeos in the nation, SDSU also has some of the nation’s top rodeo athletes.

The 2007 Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo will also feature some of the country’s top animal athletes to match the top student athletes of the Great Plains Region.

For the third year the SDSU Rodeo Team will produce their annual horse sale in conjunction with their rodeo, to raise money for the rodeo team. The sale will feature rodeo performance horses from around South Dakota and surrounding states.

The Exceptional Rodeo will also be part of the Jackrabbit Stampede Rodeo program again in 2007. The event brings together special needs children from around the area and members of the rodeo team. Team members give rides to children, show them how to rope and tie, and let the children pet horses, goats, and calves.
